In order to promote local heritage, Maison Canard-Duchêne is committed to once again highlighting the magnificent biodiversity of the Montagne de Reims Natural Park.
To forge ever closer links with Nature, we wish to restore its rights and the honour it deserves.
A collectible triptych edition
If the grape varieties of Champagne are so specific, it is thanks to its flourishing flora and fauna.
Thus, the House wanted to pay tribute to the biodiversity of its region, anchored between vines and forests, by imagining a limited edition of three bottles which highlight a 100% Nature triad.
The collection is adorned with different labels and collars on each of the bottles, in the colors of local bird species that live near our forests:
- The Yellowhammer : With its pretty bright colors, it generally remains faithful to its place of residence throughout its life. A gregarious bird, it lives in flocks in open environments.
- The Barn Swallow : Graceful and agile, it is known to "announce spring" since it arrives and nests in our territory at the end of winter. Its delicate plumage is bluish.
- The Bullfinch : This is a discreet and shy bird, it quickly takes refuge under the plant cover at the slightest alert. The male has a shimmering pinkish-red abdomen. He also shows it off during his courtship display!
These three unique species are currently in decline in France. They live on the edges of forests and vegetation such as groves, hedgerows, meadows, orchards, hedges and marshes, but also in parks and gardens.
Overly intensive agriculture has impacted their numbers in recent years, hence the Domaine's desire to produce in correlation with nature and to enhance wooded environments.
For the pleasure of hearing them sing at the entrance to the Ludes forest, the House adorns its limited edition Brut Réserve Trilogie with their shimmering colors.
The forest at the heart of life
Domaine Canard-Duchêne is rooted in Ludes, at the foot of the Montagne de Reims. In order to develop in harmony with Nature, we are increasingly committed every day to giving meaning to our actions.
By taking a new look at our environment, we can grasp all its magic and beauty.
As admirers of Nature, we want to do our bit by raising awareness of biodiversity issues.
So, the preservation of this obviously involves the protection and enhancement of the forest , which is essential to natural life. Here are some significant figures:
- 80% of biodiversity sheltered in forests.
- The forest is the first terrestrial carbon sink
- Forests provide for the needs of 25% of the world's population
Canard-Duchêne's aim is to always be as close as possible to its fabulous terroir.
The House wanted to make its contribution by committing to forests alongside Reforest'Action. Thus, we promised to plant more than 20,000 trees in France in 2021 in order to raise awareness of the benefits of forests. Thanks to you, the result being more than achieved, we have renewed our involvement in favor of the environment for 2022!
A sustainable approach
In a constant process of continuous improvement , we wish to work with our local ecosystem. To do this, this relationship requires respect and congruence at each stage.
Thus, all of the Maison's vineyards received VDC certification in 2021 and 9 cultivated hectares have been certified in organic farming since 2009.
Each of our processes is studied and constantly questioned to gain ever greater consistency.
Logically, we have undertaken several actions such as the recovery of waste through to the treatment of effluents, with its own treatment plant, through the reduction of the carbon footprint.
The Brut Réserve vintage
It contains a blend of the three emblematic grape varieties of Champagne: 42% Pinot Noir, 31% Chardonnay and 27% Meunier.
This Brut Réserve Trilogie cuvée has a lovely straw-gold color. On the nose, the Pinot Noir expresses its maturity with an intense presence of fresh fruit, accompanied by a delicate touch of dried fruit.
And for your palate, discover all the freshness of a fruit basket enhanced by notes of toasted bread, as well as pastries for a slender finish!
