Our Savoir-Faire

A One-of-a-kind Terroir

Nestled in the heart of the vineyards, we cultivate around 30 hectares of our own vines, including 9 hectares dedicated exclusively to organic farming. Our grape selection come from 100 different Crus across the Champagne region, highlighting the rich diversity of the Champagne soil and particularly the Pinot Noir from the Montage de Reims.

Pinot Noir: Our Signature Grape Variety

Pinot Noir is at the heart of our Champagnes, accounting for at least 30% of our blends. It draws its unique character from the rich soils of the Montagne de Reims. This terroir, shaped over the last 70 million years, offers a unique clay-limestone soil that is ideal for this variety. The grapes we select are distinguished by their intensity, but, above all, by their elegance.

The Art of Precise Blending

The fresh, distinctive oenological character of Canard-Duchêne is the result of our expert blending. Under the guidance of our Cellar Master and his team, our wines are meticulously selected to create harmonious cuvées.

The Reserve Wines

Canard-Duchêne Champagnes feature a significant proportion of wines from previous harvests: reserve wines. For Champagne Brut Léonie Iconic, we use a perpetual reserve made up of previous blends since 2012, using the soléra method, to combine complexity and respect for the grapes' distinctive style. This demanding winemaking method is also used for the reserve of our best Pinots Noirs, kept each year and used in the blending of our iconic Blanc de Noirs.

Time and Contol

After blending, our Champagnes are bottled and aged in the privileged, natural conditions of the Domaine de Ludes cellars. With a low, controlled dosage, generally less than 7g/L, our champagnes retain their pure, refined, and balanced expression.

The Oeonothèque

Canard-Duchêne proudly curates an Oenothèque, a treasure trove of exceptional vintages spanning from 1976 to 2014, each one a testament to our legacy of craftsmanship.

The Iconic Bottle

Since 1968, we have been creating our Iconic bottle, designed to elevate the oenological qualities of our champagne. Its unique shape amplifies the tasting experience and allows the complex aromas to fully unfold during cellar maturation.
